Dr Tim Bennett
Rheumatologist & General Physician
Tim is a Melbourne trained rheumatologist and general physician. He was drawn to the field of rheumatology due to the complex interplay between inflammatory disease and the impact this has on patients’ function and quality of life. With the patient at the centre of care, Tim aims to integrate medical and lifestyle interventions, to assist his patients to achieve their optimal physical function.
Tim completed his medical studies at the University of Melbourne in 2002, and obtained Fellowship at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in 2011. He has public appointments at Box Hill Hospital, and at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service.
Tim is actively involved in the education and training of tomorrow’s doctors, and enjoys his roles of lecturer at Monash Medical School and tutor at the University of Melbourne Medical School. Tim is a local examiner for the RACP and is a supervisor of rheumatology training at Box Hill Hospital. In 2013 he completed a Graduate Diploma of Clinical Education. Through completion of a Master of Public Health, Tim understands the impact socioeconomic factors have on community and individual health outcomes.
Philosophy
Tim aims to breakdown the formidable barrier that many patients experience in understanding the nature of their arthritis and treatment options. A key focus of Articulated Health is to empower patients with knowledge and understanding of their condition and the rationale for different interventions. Through understanding the nature of their arthritis, patients are able to play an integral role in tailoring a treatment regimen to reduce joint damage and promote long term health outcomes.
Dr Champa Nataraja
Rheumatologist
Dr Champa Nataraja is a consultant rheumatologist at Articulated Health and a physician-scientist.
Champa graduated (MBBS) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India. She undertook basic physician training at the University Hospital Geelong, Victoria in 2015, and completed specialist training in Rheumatology at Monash Health and the Royal Hobart Hospital. She is a fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Rheumatology and a member of the Australian Rheumatology Association. Champa completed her PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in 2020 from Monash University. She has presented her research at the national and international conferences in Rheumatology.
Champa has a special interest in inflammatory arthritis, musculoskeletal diseases, connective tissue diseases as well as complex rheumatic diseases. She aims to provide a high quality medical services in rheumatology and care for her patients.
Outside of work, Champa has a passion to help the underprivileged students towards their schooling in India. She is also a nature lover who enjoys long track walks.
Dr Edmund Song
General Physician
Dr Edmund Song is a General and Acute medicine Physician. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011 and undertook training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Ballarat Base Hospital and the Austin Hospital before attaining his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2021.
He has a broad base of expertise with sub-specialty training in cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, respiratory medicine and perioperative medicine.
His special interests include:
Acute undifferentiated medical presentations
Perioperative medicine with pre-operative assessment and post-operative shared care with the patient’s surgeon
Difficult to control hypertension
Autonomic neuropathy with orthostatic hypotension, for example in patients with Diabetes or Parkinson disease
Orthostatic intolerance: i.e. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), Orthostatic intolerance associated with increased elasticity i.e. Ehlers Danlos syndrome, post viral orthostatic intolerance
Edmund is passionate about providing holistic, patient-centred care, ensuring patients feel empowered through their healthcare journey. He is also committed to regional and rural medicine, and is excited to provide care for patients in Ballarat and the Central Highland region. He understands the difficulty of accessing care, particularly for patients in rural areas and is also available for Telehealth consultations.
As one of the specialists in Melbourne who looks after patients with POTS and other dysautonomias, with his general physician training he is able to manage his patients as a whole and bring together, diagnose, manage and coordinate care for the many different conditions that may be associated with POTS i.e. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, migraines and headaches, sleep disturbances, fatigue, gastrointestinal dysfunction, bladder dysfunction, allergy and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
Dr Keith Lim
Rheumatologist
Clinical Associate Professor Keith K Lim is currently the Director of Rheumatology at Western Health and at the Melbourne University Clinical School of Medicine and also Head of the Osteoarthritis clinic at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Keith is an experienced clinician and has been a teacher and mentor to many rheumatologists over the years. He completed his MBBS at Melbourne University and then trained extensively overseas completing his MD thesis at Bristol University with Professor Paul Dieppe. His main clinical and research interests are in osteoarthritis and inflammatory arthritis.
He also speaks Malay, Cantonese and Hokkien.
